FRIGHT HIKE THIS WEEKEND!!! Key Club has been volunteering for Fright Hike for more than 10 years and this weekend marks the event's 25th anniversary. The event is orchestrated by a former KM family so many of the groups hosting a scary scene are students, parents, staff, or alumni. KMHS CHILD DEVELOPMENT CLASS GAINS VALUABLE FIELD EXPERIENCE!!! Mrs. Jordan's Child Development class took a field trip to Bethlehem Preschool to spend the morning working with 3K and 4K classes. Each student was partnered with a young learner, spending the morning reading books, playing a pumpkin game, and supporting recess. Thanks to the staff at Bethlehem Preschool for an amazing learning experience!
SIGN YOUR ELEMENTARY OR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT UP FOR LYBA BASKETBALL!!! The season begins in December and concludes in February. Grades 3-8 will practice one night per week with Saturday morning games and will be followed by a season ending tournament. Grades 1-2 will meet on Saturday mornings for one hour with practice and game play. Our emphasis will be on knowledge and execution of basketball skills, rules, sportsmanship, fair play and attitude. GUEST CONDUCTOR FUNDRAISER!!!
KM band programs are running an auditorium fundraiser that allows audience members to submit a silent bid to conduct Wind Symphony on a tune during the District Band Festival. At each concert, we will be informing the audience what the current high bid is and if we have hit our minimum. As a way to kick this off, we did a playful auction "bit" with the audience last night, during our auditorium soft open/pep band concert. We didn't expect any takers, but Mr. Gerber jumped in much to the delight of the audience!
He did a great job and will serve as a wonderful example of what is yet to come.
KMHS CAMPUS INFORMATION NIGHT SCHEDULE RELEASED!!! Each year, our five high schools host opportunities for middle school families to learn more about their curriculum, learning models, activities, and offerings. This is a great opportunity to meet other students, speak with educators and administrators, and get a more in-depth look at what a particular school has to offer!
MENTORS CREATE ONE KM!!! KMHS Chamber Orchestra students traveled to the middle school to coach 8th Grade Orchestra students in preparing a solo on their instruments. The high school coaches developed instructional strategies that pushed our middle schoolers’ musicianship forward in a BIG way. Thank you, KMHS Orchestra for acting as mentors to your younger counterparts!
KM MASCOT LISTENING SESSION OCTOBER 29TH AT 7:00 PM @KMHS LIBRARY!!! The Kettle Moraine School District is offering a listening session/committee meeting to discuss the future of Captain Laser. We have reached a point where the current costume is in need of replacement and is unfit to wear. This listening session will provide an opportunity for our KM Community to share their thoughts and ideas on how best to represent KM with our next mascot.
THE KETTLE MORAINE EQUESTRIAN TEAM IS HEADED TO STATE THIS WEEKEND!!!! The WIHA state competition will be held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison in pavilion two.. The state competition will run all weekend, starting Friday at 3:00 pm with trail and ranch events. Competition will resume at 8:00 am Saturday with showmanship and equestrian events, and again on Sunday, with driving, speed, and timed events. KMMS PROVIDES THREE PROSTHETIC LEGS FOR AMPUTEES!!! Kelly Weske, has spent her summers working as an international mountain guide since 2012. Her employer also operates a non-profit that cares for children, adults and families with special needs and/or life-changing medical obstacles. Naturally, she has become involved in these efforts, helping to build an orphanage, medical and dental clinic, and woman's support center that is currently under construction. In 2022, they partnered with the nonprofit Hope to Walk to build a Prosthetic Center in Arusha, Tanzania. Ms. Weske was so moved by this work, she introduced their mission to her Healthy & Active Lifestyles students through participating in a virtual 5K fundraiser. Her students have become so invested in making a difference that they raised $750 dollars this year. That is enough to give three people the ability to walk through the use of prosthetic limbs!! Millions of amputees worldwide depend on wheelchairs and crutches, or even crawling, simply because commercial prosthetics ($10,000 - $25,000) are completely out of reach. Hope To Walk’s legs are locally produced, using available materials, for only $250! Thank you Kelly for inspiring our young learners to care about global health initiatives and have the incredible opportunity of changing lives!

KM DECA ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE!
The annual food drive for KM DECA began on Tuesday, October 15th, and runs until Monday, October 28th this year.
The drive has been happening annually at Kettle Moraine High School for over 50 years and we have expanded its positive effects on our community since then. Students who are a part of DECA or who are in one of Mr. Dellis' marketing classes have the opportunity to give back to their community by distributing bags for food donations in nearby neighborhoods and then collecting the filled bags to be transported to Waukesha Food Pantry to help those in need.
We are very thankful to Pick 'N Save for providing the bags we use for collection and Target for providing the trailer that transports the food to Waukesha Food Pantry.
Last year we collected 10,000 pounds of food and this year our goal is to collect 11,000 pounds!
One important aspect of our DECA chapter is community service and the annual food drive is one of our many service activities.

WALES AND EXPLORE CELEBRATE SUCCESSFUL COLOR RUN!!! Students raised such a significant amount of money through this year's Color Run, that the campus celebrated with an inflatable costume relay race featuring teachers.
