Before Spring Break, the HS^2 Physics students finished up their studies on Torque and Static Equilibrium! While some students chose to take a unit test, others chose to create mobiles to demonstrate their learning. Students had to use the skills learned throughout the unit to construct and prove that the mobiles hung in perfect equilibrium.

A flashback to when the HS^2 AP Environmental Science students did a lab looking at electricity use. The students used Kill-A-Watt meters to measure several different small appliances and electronic devices and then compared which objects used the most energy.

The Engineering class tested their cardboard shelters on the chilly day we had last Wednesday! The shelters were made using a variety of different materials (cardboard, fabric, bubble wrap, aluminum foil, etc.) all with the goal of providing insulation to the shelters. The goal was to create the most, if any, insulation for the cardboard shelters. Taking the shelters outside, they recorded data with two temperature sensors, one on the inside of the shelter, and one on the outside. One person from each team was placed in the shelter for 40-60 minutes to signify a heat source, so they could tell if the shelter kept the heat in. In the end, all shelters were insulated, but to different degrees.
