Today, the KM Explore Pioneers (4th & 5th grade) started their Science Fair with the help of the HS^2 students!
The Pioneers traveled to the High School Campus where they tried out different HS^2 student-led experiments (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) to jumpstart ideas for their own individual science fair projects and also met with their High School mentors.
Moving forward, the Pioneer and HS^2 students will have mentoring sessions to work on their projects and prepare for the science fair presentations! We cannot wait to see what the students come up with!

Today 15 HS^2 students started the Fire and Rescue Workshop. This is an outreach opportunity with our partner Lake Country Fire and Rescue (LCFR). In this experience, students get a taste of what happens at the Fire House as well as learning valuable skills such as: gaining CPR certification, donning firefighting gear, forcible entry, EMS skills, and tackling the obstacle course.
We're excited that once again HS^2 Alumni Vincent is helping to run the show!

Before Halloween, HS^2 students had one more chance to decorate pumpkins on a fun Green Day session!

HS^2 is hosting a food drive, and we would love your help! The drive will run from November 7th to November 22nd.
While our advisories are making it into a competition with items worth the points shown, we would love all donations of any type!

Today our trained HS^2 students traveled to Cushing Elementary for this weeks vision screening!
During the visit, classes of students circulated through the screening area, where they were shown letters or pictures they are meant to identify. This process is aimed to detect vision problems in the children in order to deal with them early on and prevent the development of others. The program also works in cooperation with Prevent Blindness Wisconsin, a nonprofit, state-wide organization with the same goal.

Recently, several students in HS^2 were trained by a KM Nurse and have now started traveling to the Elementary schools in the district to help with vision screening for the students. This process is aimed to detect vision problems in the children in order to deal with them early on and prevent the development of others. On Wednesday, the students stopped at Magee Elementary, and will head to the other KM Elementary schools in the coming weeks.
