On Saturday, December 7th, 25 of Magee's own 2nd and 3rd graders performed at Breakfast at Santa. They sang their hearts out beautifully and remained very composed in a large room full of chatter and onlookers. They looked fabulous and we are so proud of them! Thank you, Mrs. Leuwerke for organizing this opportunity!

KM ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND KMHS STUDENT GOVERNMENT NEED YOUR SHOE BOXES AND YOUR DONATIONS!!! KM elementary schools and high school student government are participating in a Friendsgiving collection that will conclude on November 26th. Donated or purchased items will be collected into shoe boxes. These "shoe boxes for Santa" will then be personally delivered to students at WD Williams Elementary School in Swannanoa North Carolina. These students have been terribly impacted by hurricanes, tornados, and flooding. Most were left with nothing. Our goal is to gather up much-needed clothing items like hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, socks, and also a few fun things like toys, art supplies, or puzzles. The school has 450 students at 4 elementary schools, so our goal is to meet and even exceed that need. Drop off your donations at any KM elementary school or at KMHS!

MAGEE STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT ELECTIONS!!! Ms. Mathison and Ms. Kroll are teaching fifth graders about the electoral process through a mock election featuring popular "candydates." Students have learned about the primary process and political parties (in this case a "chocolate" party and a "gummy candy" party.) Kit Kats won the chocolate primary, while Airheads won the gummy candy party. Students have also explored campaign strategies by making posters and door signs and giving mini-speeches/slide presentations. The Electoral College was explained by determining how many electoral votes each classroom should get and creating a map of the school where students will record the results. Tuesday will also mark Magee's election day. Students and staff will visit the fifth grade classrooms to sign in and cast their vote for Airheads or Kit Kats in our special voting booths. Then, they will receive their sticker and head back to class to watch the returns as fifth grade poll workers tabulate a winner.

As we approach the new school year, let's welcome the new staff joining our Magee School Community. Today, please welcome Scott Henderson our new Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher. He will be joining Mrs. Kiesgen, Ms. Kretschmer, and our amazing Special Education Paraeducator team.
My name is Scott, and I am thrilled to join the Magee SWD team. For the past four years, I have been teaching at the Wales/Explore campus. I am married with six kids and a dog, and much of my free time is spent shuttling my kids to various school and sporting events. As a family, we enjoy traveling and working on remodeling projects together. I am excited to be part of such an amazing group of people and look forward to contributing to the team.
Welcome to our team, Scott. We look forward to collaborating with you and supporting all of our students to the fullest together. Your humor, positivity, and care for all students will continue to strengthen our school community and the support we provide our learners at Magee!

As we approach the new school year, let's welcome the new staff joining our Magee School Community. Today, please welcome Kelly Kroll, our new 5th Grade teacher joining Mrs. Mathison.
My name is Kelly Kroll and I am thrilled to be joining Magee's team as a 5th grade teacher. I previously taught 4th grade at Cushing, so I am very excited to see how Magee's incoming 5th graders apply their 4th grade learning. I look forward to meeting new students and families as well as getting creative with outdoor learning! You will see me around the KM community as I am also the assistant coach of the KMHS Dance Team. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, lake days, camping, and working out at Cyclebar.
Welcome Miss Kroll. We are excited that you are joining our team at Magee!

As we approach the new school year, let's welcome the new staff joining our Magee School Community. Today, please welcome Emilie Post, our new Music Teacher at Magee Elementary School.
"Hello, my name is Emilie Post and I will be the K - 5 music teacher at Magee for the 24-25 school year. I had previously been a Special Education teacher in KM since 2020 after receiving my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Caroll University. Last year was my first year as an Elementary Music Teacher at Cushing Elementary. I received my undergraduate degree in Musical Theater from Marymount Manhattan College in NYC. For the past 11 years, I have taught dance, music, and theater across Southeastern Wisconsin, as well as directed and choreographed shows at First Stage, The Jerry Awards, Lake Country Playhouse, and KMHS and KMMS. I spent this last summer at Lakeland University where I completed my Level 1 Orff Schulwerk certification for music education. I currently live in Hartland with my husband Matt, who is also a musician, and we are expecting our first child, a baby girl this October. I am thrilled to join the Magee team and my hope is to create a classroom where all students feel supported, celebrated, and encourage to become their best musical self. "
Welcome Mrs. Post! We look forward to creating some musical magic with you this school year!

ENROLL IN KM 4 AND 5K NOW!!! The open enrollment window has reopened and it is important to apply and secure a spot. We also need district residents to enroll in 4K so we can meet your choice of schools and accommodate wrap care requests. There is no need to enroll in KM 5K if your child was in KM 4K this year. Get started now at www.kmsd.edu/enroll. To explore options and learn more about each of our elementary sites and wrap-around care partners, contact 4K Director Justin Nies, at niesjustin@kmsd.edu.
