SUMMER ACADEMY MOVIN ON TO KINDERGARTEN!!! Our youngest SA learners had a wonderful time celebrating the 4th of July with a parade through the school in the costumes they created in class.
CUSHING STUDENTS PARTNER WITH THE BELFRE KITCHEN!!!! Cushing fifth graders got some real-world experience participating in a dine-in fundraiser today at the Belfre Kitchen in Delafield. Rather than just host an event, students rolled up their sleeves and worked as prep cooks, servers, hosts, baristas, dishwashers, and more! It was a great way for them to learn more about the food service industry and all of the different jobs that support a successful restaurant. Amy, the owner, and all of her staff had wonderful things to say about the Cushing students and their willingness to help wherever they were needed. We are so grateful to these incredible community partners for providing this opportunity. It was a beautiful day and parents, staff, students, and even restaurant guests, seemed to enjoy the festivities!

SIGN UP NOW FOR SUMMER ACADEMY!! Our summer programming is a great way to keep students busy, learning, and growing all year. SAVE THE DATE FOR HONK – A Musical Tale of "The Ugly Duckling!" Since it first hatched in 1993, Stiles & Drewe's musical, Honk!, has winged its way around the world in over 8,000 productions and in many different languages. Winner of multiple awards, including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical, this heartwarming celebration of being different is sure to delight audiences of all ages with its sparkling wit and memorable score. Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out that being different is not a bad thing to be. With its bouncing score and universal story, this touching musical with plenty of heart will captivate audiences of all ages.

CUSHING GETS VISIT FROM KMHS STARS!! Coach Mac and two of his players, Nolan and Noah, spent lunch and recess with 4th graders at Cushing Elementary! They helped to reinforce important recess rules, and spoke about expectations and sportsmanship. Coach Mac reminded us that even though we might be on different teams during recess, we're all part of one big team KM. It was a wonderful learning opportunity and the students really responded to their message.

PIRATES STEAL THE SHOW!!! Cushing Elementary held a fifth grade pirate musical this week and it was argghhhmazing! Seriously, this show was so well designed and the students did a wonderful job of dressing their parts and singing their hearts out! About 250 people were in attendance and everyone got into the spirit of this rousing performance!
WHAT A FUN WAY TO LEARN FRACTIONS!!!! Cushing Elementary third graders organized a grade-wide pizzeria to gain a better understanding of fractions. They went all out with paper pizzas, checked tablecloths and some impressive moustaches! A great time was had by all. Thank you to everyone who helped with this activity.

KM SHOWCASE DRAWS LARGE CROWD!! We were thrilled when more than 100 families took time to attend the KM Showcase this year. We will continue to learn from the experience and expand this annual event! Thank you to the presenters for providing over 50 exhibits from all of our KM schools, clubs, teams, and activities. The demonstrations from computer science, Makerspace, robotics, and digital design were really engaging, and the art gallery of student work was impressive. We also want to thank our community partners: Avid Jewelry, Chick-fil-A, Culver's, Dockhounds, Mama Ds, MDs, and Pizza Guy for the generous contributions to our gift bags and prize drawing. Winners were drawn and notified yesterday and we have some very happy recipients!
KM ELEMENTARY DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!!! The theme was a night in Paris and more than 340 people were in attendance! There were lots of great activities including crafts, games, and of course the dance itself!! Thank you to Amanda Gill for organizing this fantastic event; to Chris Otto for DJing; and to the many KMHS students who volunteered.
CUSHING STUDENTS ENJOY NEW EXPERIENCES AT DISCOVERY WORLD!!! Third grade students visited Discovery World in Milwaukee. Many students hadn't been there before and it was an amazing learning experience for everyone. They had a great time exploring the many exhibits, sparking curiosity, and improving understanding of key concepts. Building background knowledge is one of our goals this year, so this field trip was a perfect opportunity for hands-on learning!
