The decision to close schools due to inclement weather is carefully considered with the concern for student and staff safety the primary factor.
The district relies on information from emergency management and state highway administrators about conditions for all roads—not just major highways. KMSD personnel assigned to each school will inspect the conditions of roads, sidewalks, parking lots and bus lanes. The Superintendent also communicates with local school districts before announcing a decision to close, delay or release outside of the normal schedule.
