The Kettle Moraine School District (KMSD) has promoted Coach Brian Richert to be the Head Coach of our varsity Boys Basketball Team.

Coach Richert brings 32 years of head coaching experience, having worked for many programs throughout the country. He was a successful head coach at St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, where he led the Lancers to numerous conference and regional championships as well as their first WIAA state tournament. Richert was also the driving force behind their post-graduate program, where he brought in some of the best players in the country to create a top-ranked team. In this role, Richert worked with more than 30 Division 1 players who went on to play in elite collegiate programs throughout the country. Many also played professionally. Prior to St. John's, Brian served as associate head coach at Carroll University for three seasons and assistant coach at Ripon College. "Coaching is in my blood. It's part of our family's DNA,” said Richert, “My father was a highly successful high school and college head coach and my brother won a WIAA State Championship as the head coach at Young Cogg's."

This past season, Richert was the assistant coach at Kettle Moraine and played a key role in leading the Lasers to their first WIAA state tournament. "Kettle Moraine has the ingredients to be a state contender every year. I respect the work that it takes and welcome that challenge," said Richert. "I am extremely excited about being named head coach and can't wait to get started. I wish the season started tomorrow." Richert built many relationships during the season but wants to extend that beyond the high school program. "One of my top priorities is to work with all of the youth coaches to build the foundation for our future. I plan on meeting with them, as well as the players and parents, not only to introduce myself but to show my passion and my love for coaching the game at all levels."

We hope you will join us in congratulating Coach Richert on his new role!
