What does the KM Perform curriculum include?
Posted by:The KM Perform curriculum offers a diverse range of courses and seminars designed for the college-bound student, allowing students to make academic choices that fit their individual needs and interests. The curriculum is driven towards a rigorous arts-integrated humanities experience in addition to math and science specifically designed for each KM Perform student. All subjects vertically align toward college preparatory and AP courses in English, social studies, science, and mathematics. Several AP courses in literature and environmental science are designed specifically for the KM Perform student. KM Perform students graduate with competitive and college-ready Kettle Moraine School District transcripts as well as an impressive portfolio of academic and artistic projects. Because KM Perform uses a competency model for awarding credit, KM Perform students can exceed the learning targets and credit of a typical high school student.
-
How is KM Perform different from a traditional school?
Posted by:KM Perform’s primary learning model is an Interdisciplinary Learning Collaborative (ILC) using a competency-based credit framework. The ILC model allows teachers and students together to create projects and learning platforms that meet or exceed the learning targets, or competencies, predetermined by the teacher to meet state and national academic standards. Through seminars, workshops, independent work, group projects, or field study, students will work alongside teachers to combine artistic performance with academic content. KM Perform awards credit in the ILC using a competency model, where students receive credit based on the work completed and according to a pace set in each student’s goal profile.. By contrast, traditional high schools award credit based on seat time, or the number of minutes spent on the content, with all students working on the same skills at the same time, even if prerequisites haven’t all been met by everyone in the class.

Who do I see for academic or post-high school counseling?
Posted by:A student’s mentor is the first line of contact for information regarding overall progress in KM Perform. If a student or parent seeks general advising or college planning, they can also make an appointment with Mrs. Neimon, the KM Perform guidance counselor. See the HS Counseling Center for more information or contact the Counseling Office for legacy course requests, college application information, or general counseling. (262) 968-6273 Ext: 4025
-
Do I receive a report card?
Posted by:KM Perform does not operate on a quarter/semester schedule, so there is no arbitrary end point for all courses such as a quarter or semester. Since KM Perform is competency based, the credit is complete when the student finishes the credit. In KM Perform, MyLC provides real time access to student progress, listed by seminar, course, and learning target. When students complete full credit in a course, the credit and grade are sent to the guidance department for transcripting. The transcript looks like a typical high school transcript, with credit and grades for each course unit completed.
-
How do I obtain my official transcript/grades?
Posted by:Official transcripts are generated through the high school campus counseling department and available on your Infinite Campus portal. Only credits which have been completed in full appear on the high school transcript. For questions about transcripts, contact the Counseling Office at (262) 968-6273 Ext: 4025
-
Where do I report attendance and absences?
Posted by:Please use the Attendance Office phone number when calling in student absences at 262-968-6200. Specify that your student is in KM Perform. Attendance messages left at any other number may not make it into the system.
-
Can I take electives from KMHS Legacy?
Posted by:Students who in their first year do not take non-KM Perform electives other than World Language. Please view the school guide located at www.kmperform.com for detailed policies regarding legacy electives for other students.
KM Perform art and music courses such as band classroom and art courses are considered Perform courses. Students will register for these through myLC and receive KM Perform credit but may be attending these classes with legacy HS students. KM Perform students can take these classes at any time including in their first year. Students should consult with their mentor for scheduling.
-
How do I check my grades and course progress?
Posted by:Progress, credits and academic excellence for all KM Perform courses, including KM Perform arts courses are tracked in MyLC, our custom software to track learning standards and schedule seminars. New students are introduced to this tool in the first week of school and do not need to access MyLC before the first day.
Students send home their progress report to their parents on Friday. Teacher Mentors are included in this email so you can respond with questions.
KMHS (Legacy HS) courses including world language and other electives are tracked in Infinite Campus.
Progress is reported on the official transcript available on the Infinite Campus portal after the entire course is completed.

How do I register for classes? When do I get my schedule? How to I change a legacy course?
Posted by:KM Perform students register for classes through seminars, usually a week before they start. The only courses you register for in advance are arts courses and any KMHS (legacy high school) electives, typically done in February of the previous year. For all other courses, including arts courses, contact your mentor.
There is no need to register for KM Perform classes in the summer - our students do this as part of their goal setting at the beginning of the school year.
-

Are there auditions to enter KM Perform?
Posted by:No. KM Perform is a school for arts and performance that welcomes students with diverse experiences. While there are no auditions for KM Perform, students should expect to be formally evaluated on their performance academically as well as artistically. There is an interview after the application where you will play for us or show your art (it is informal and friendly!), so that we can answer your questions, and help you make sure this is the right fit. This also helps us place you in your first writing, art, music, or theatre courses and seminars based on your experience level.
