    Open House

Open House is on August 25th from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Teachers will be available in the KM Perform areas.  Note, KM Perform music and art mentors also teach legacy HS classes, so they are most often in their arts classrooms.  If you are new to KM Perform, you can stop by the KM Perform amphitheater, “the Amp”,  for KM Perform information and location of mentors.  The Amp is the open area of KM Perform in the main high school hallway, just past the KM Perform Community room, Room B-25.

    1st Workshop Registration

Returning students, be sure to check in on myLC by Tuesday, August 30th. We will have any registration requirements and additional communication posted there.  New students, we will be showing this to you on your first day of school on August 31st. Returning students, your first day of school is Wednesday, September 1st and will be a full day of school. Your workshop registration will need to be completed before that date.

    Parent Digest

Parents, we will be again using the MyLC digest reports for weekly progress reporting. We will be adding some features to this based on your feedback.  There is not a dedicated parent portal, as this digest report contains the most up-to-date progress information and current/overdue assignments list, which is the student’s to-do list.

    Annual Report

The KM Perform annual report contains a summary of the 2021-2022 season, senior destinations, highlights from the year, goals, and our governance council strategic plan. Contact Kevin Erickson(ericksok@kmsd.edu) if you have any questions about the report.

Arts and Events Calendar for 2022-2023

We will have a KM Perform calendar in addition to the campus/district calendar. This will list arts-specific activities for KM Perform students and will be shared during the first week of school.

    Some other helpful resources:

Blue Gold Calendar - calendar and Blue and Gold Days for the year

Campus Block Schedule - KM Perform modifies the legacy HS block schedule but this is a useful reference for students taking legacy high school classes and arts courses.

District Calendar  - KM Perform follows district vacation and professional development days.  There are additional days off called “Records Days” and calendar deviations for arts events which will be distributed with our fine arts calendar.

    FOR NEW STUDENTS AND PARENTS

    Schedules

Remember that Infinite Campus will only show your world language classes. You may also see an arts course or “Perform Ensemble” listed. This is just a placeholder to indicate that a KM Perform arts course or New Student Cohort is scheduled.  No other class selection is completed until we do our orientation and goal setting during the first week of school. You will have a full schedule of seminars at that point in time to start the school year! If you have questions, feel free to email your mentor or Mrs. Catania cataniat@kmsd.edu.  Mrs. Catania runs our new student cohort, the “How To KM Perform” support class that runs through the school year to help new students be successful in high school.

    School Supplies

KM Perform does not have a formal school supply list.  Students can expect to need standard high school/college prep supplies such as notebooks and writing supplies.  Focus areas (i.e. art or music) may have additional expectations that are communicated from the mentors. When students sign up for seminars, any additional requirements will be listed in the syllabus.

    First Day of School-August 31st

The first day of school for all freshmen and students new to the district is Wednesday, August 31st (7:20am-10:30am). Simply report to the front entrance and we will get you where you need to go.  Students do not need to bring computers or school supplies.

    MyLC Account

All student seminars and evidence for course credit is hosted in a custom tool called MyLC  (My Learning Collaborative)  This tool is designed specifically for what you do in the KM Perform Interdisciplinary Learning Collaborative model.  You are welcome to login to it and look around, but we won’t have too much in MyLC until we meet with you on the first day. At that time you will have a complete workshop schedule. Students sign in with their Google account.  Parents - you access this information in the form of a digest report that is emailed by students on Friday’s.  This report will also copy your learner’s mentor so you can follow up with questions or concerns.

    Support for New Learners

In addition to a teacher mentor that students see daily, new students have their very own “How To” seminar all year long with a dedicated instructaor. This seminar is designed specifically to guide students through their first year of high school. This class embeds foundational subjects (Math and English), and includes specific KM Perform “how to”  information as well as conversations about campus life and coaching on strategies for a successful high school career.

Please review the links on our website for additional information on registration. We are looking forward to a great year.

    Sincerely,

    Kevin Erickson
