A Message from Mrs. Sterner

  • On a professional note…

I am beginning my fourth year as the principal at Magee.  It is truly a unique school community that is very much a family.  Magee’s traditions are a strong part of the culture in the building.  The team of committed educators work seamlessly to personalize learning for all of our students as they grow throughout the years as learners.  I am grateful and blessed to work as a part of this team.

As an undergraduate, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where I graduated with a BSE in Elementary Education 1-8 and a minor in Coaching Athletics K-12.  I was also a member of the Women’s Swimming/Diving Team, Delta Zeta Sorority, and the Order of Omega Greek National Honor Society.

After graduation, I taught in a variety of districts as my husband’s job as a high school football coach kept us on the move - Waukesha, WI; Eudora, KS; Rockford, IL; Beloit Turner, WI; and finally Greenfield, WI.  While in Greenfield, I returned to school at Aurora University and earned a Master’s in Teaching and continued on to earn my K-12 Principal license. After teaching for 10 years in Greenfield, I was offered the opportunity to become a principal in the district and was an elementary principal there for  five years. During those five years, I returned to school at Alverno College to earn my K-12 Director of Instruction License.

    On a personal note…

I have been married to my husband, John, for 25 years.  We have two children. Keeley will be graduating from UW-Whitewater with a degree in Health Communications.  Our son, Jackson, works for a kitchen remodeling company. Our family enjoys spending time together, which is becoming more and more rare - traveling, running, hiking and cooking.   We enjoy spending time with both sides of our family whether it is weekly dinners or celebrations of birthdays and milestones.
