At Cushing Elementary, our mission is to provide a strong, educational foundation for all children by promoting an excitement for learning through challenging experiences in a safe, flexible, positive environment. We value our partnerships with family, staff, and the community. Our school has a highly qualified teaching staff that believes strongly in the power of professional learning communities and professional growth to promote student achievement.

At Cushing Elementary School, we provide many opportunities and programs for children to develop their academic, social, and personal qualities.  It is important for our learners to demonstrate “Cushing Star Behaviors” which focus around three principles:

The students and their learning take top priority in our school as we work towards a well-rounded education for each individual child, enhanced through a partnership with families and fostered through awareness about your child’s experiences in his or her classroom and school.  

Personal & Professional:

I grew up in Waukesha, and I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education at UW-Milwaukee.  I began my career in education as a high school science teacher.  While teaching, I earned my Principal and Director of Curriculum and Instruction certifications through my master’s program at Marian University.  Prior to my principalship at Cushing, I served as a high school administrator for five years. During that time, my husband and I started our family - we are the proud parents of two young children.  I was excited to join the Kettle Moraine team where I spent my first year in the district as an instructional coach and educator in KM Perform.  

Above all else, I consider my most important job to be that of an advocate for learners.  As an educator, I firmly believe strong relationships, opportunities for personal development, and engaging learning experiences are the foundation for a successful educational journey.  As Cushing’s principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors is excited to be here and feels like a part of our learning community.  This mindset enables us to meet the challenges of academic and personal excellence in a positive, engaging, and nurturing environment.
