KMEF Announces $20,000 In Grants for KM Schools

  • The Kettle Moraine Education Foundation is pleased to announce its 2018 Impact Grants!

    • Internet of Things - Through personalized learning, computer science and design thinking, KMHS computer science students will develop and build interconnected systems that will benefit both homes and businesses.

    • Class Virtual Reality Goggles - Wales Campus LMC will use this groundbreaking new technology to help raise engagement, increase knowledge retention, as well provide a foundational experience that will build into the future computer modeling our students will experience in middle and high school.

    • Percussion Competency-Based Learning - Using digital tools, an expert coach and individualized instruction plans, the Middle School Band department will develop and teach a curriculum of percussion-specific competencies.

    • Solving Crimes - Using projectile motion probeware, High School of Health Sciences students will actively engage in physics content during a Crime Scene Investigations unit. Their learning will culminate with guest speakers who will address real-world CSI, including law enforcement, an EMT, and a lawyer to present legal implications.

    • FIRST Robotics Teams FLL & FTC - The High School Robotics team is working to expand their ranks. They will help bring more opportunities and skills to 4th through 12th grade students to include programming robots, working as teams, learning STEM concepts, writing and researching.

    • Middle School STEM Zone - Design thinking will be brought to fruition with viable prototyping in the Middle School STEM Zone. Using existing CAD software to model designs,  students will use new 3D printers, a vinyl cutter and X-Carve CNC machine to make their designs reality.

    • High School STEM Equipment - A new CNC mill will help KMHS students collaborate with industry partners (such as Rockwell or Cisco) to use the design thinking process to solve real-world problems and create prototyped solutions.

    Congratulations to all grant recipients!
